We are open about the biofuels that we supply. Disclosing detailed information about the origin and carbon impact of our biofuels helps to keep us focused on the environmental and social impact of our sourcing operations, so we can strive to do better.
We are the only UK fuel supplier to make available such detailed information about the biofuels we use.
We provide information about our biofuels in the following formats:
On an interactive map:
We have mapped our supply chain on BioCarbon Tracker, a map global carbon reserves and the threats they face.

The map shows where our suppliers are located, and whether they are in an area where carbon reserves have been destroyed or at risk. By looking at our suppliers in the context of carbon reserves, we can evaluate risk and prioritise our actions more effectively.

Biofuel raw materials
Biodiesel
Used cooking oil
We have invested in technical changes to our biodiesel plant in Immingham in order to produce more used cooking oil biodiesel. 99% of our biodiesel is now derived from used cooking oil.
Oilseed rape
Produced from rape grown in a variety of countries, primarily European.
Bioethanol
Corn
The bioethanol we have used has been produced from US corn. In the US, we are working with individual producers to understand the greenhouse gas savings from the bioethanol they produce, looking at the fertiliser and energy used in growing, transporting and processing the corn.
Sorghum
Sorghum is an alternative grain crop grown in hot, dry countries. The sorghum that we used was grown and processed in the USA, where it has a limited growing season.
Sugar cane
All our sugar cane bioethanol was sourced from Brazil, where we operate a Gold Standard Sustainability audit programme for our suppliers.
